Soni Razdan and Saba Azad Share Powerful Insights on “Songs of Paradise” and Bollywood Sexism

In an intimate conversation with CNN-News18 Showsha, Soni Razdan and Saba Azad, stars of the upcoming film “Songs of Paradise,” opened up about their experiences in the industry. Joined by director Danish Renzu, they discussed the film’s exploration of human stories from Kashmir, as well as the challenges female actors continue to face.

Both Razdan and Azad candidly addressed the sexism prevalent in Bollywood. Razdan shared her personal experience of receiving fewer offers after marriage and being defined solely by her relationships with Mahesh Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. She poignantly described the struggle to maintain her own identity beyond these labels.

The “Tragic” Pattern of Lost Identities

Azad echoed Razdan’s sentiments, highlighting the “tragic” pattern of women losing their individuality when partnered with a man. She also addressed the recent online trolling she faced after rumors circulated about her relationship with Hrithik Roshan, with some suggesting she no longer needed to work. Azad responded with strength and resilience, emphasizing her commitment to her career.

“Songs of Paradise”: A Glimpse into Kashmiri Stories

The trio also discussed “Songs of Paradise,” a film exploring human stories from the heart of Kashmir. Set to premiere on Prime Video on August 29th, the film promises a poignant and powerful narrative. Director Danish Renzu shared his vision for the project, highlighting the importance of bringing these stories to a wider audience.
