The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, now better known as The Kapil Sharma Show, has found itself in hot water. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has sent a legal notice to the show and streaming giant Netflix, demanding a hefty ₹25 crore for alleged copyright and trademark infringement.

Kiku Sharda’s Baburao Act at the Center of the Controversy

At the heart of the legal battle is comedian Kiku Sharda’s popular portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the iconic character originally played by Paresh Rawal in Nadiadwala’s hit film “Hera Pheri.” Nadiadwala claims that the show’s use of the character infringes upon his copyright and trademark rights.

Nadiadwala Seeks ₹25 Crore in Damages

The ₹25 crore notice signifies the seriousness of the allegations. Nadiadwala contends that the show’s unauthorized use of the character has caused him significant financial and reputational damage. The legal notice marks the beginning of what could be a protracted legal battle between the production house and the popular comedy show.
